Hey everyone!
Just wanna write and say that since I have been on dA I have been inspired to create more and to interact more with other artists that ever before. I am sculpting more that I have since ten years ago.
The figure Myrtle can be seen, start to finish by clicking on the scraps button on this page. When the next page comes up click on the photo of Myrtle and then on the download button. It will lead to the gif file posted and you will see her, down to her bones, her armature. She failed in her early structure, and had to be torn down to the bare wood and the armature redesigned. This was a great lesson for me. Strong armature makes the sculpture hold up to the heaviness of the clay that is later applied. I had thought that the strength of the clay would also help, but it sagged. I replaced the sagging aluminum can pieces with tie rods and epoxy puddy. This is where the trapezius muscle attaches to the scull. The tie rods worked. Top of the rods went into the scull, the bottom into the back. Logical to use the pattern of the skeltial muscles to create to support for the head. Duh. But it brings home the idea to create reality, start in reality.
My husband, David Matthews, who also posts here on dA has inspired me to go on to sculpt one of his ladies.
The next figure will not be one of his though because I will want learn to do it right. To make the right armature, the right muscles in their right place, the size and proportions, not only for reality, but also for his enlarged proportions.
So I introduce the figure I have named "Tara". She was inspired by a Julie Bell figure. Julie is the wife of Boris Vallejo. They are too famous to list all of who and what they are here in this journal. Go find them. You will enjoy their work.

My husband, :icondcmatthews: influences my work somewhat, but not totally.
I like old people, I'm getting older myself and think wrinkles are a gas.
Oh, I have an implant that helps me fight my depression. Ask me about it.
